This is now prime shopping season. The air is crisp, leaves are turning, and everything tastes like pumpkin spice. Even a lemon tastes like pumpkin spice. Shoppers are hitting department stores and boutiques in record numbers. I recently visited a high end luxury mall and I couldn’t even find a parking spot. I had to park off the grounds and walk nearly a half mile back to the stores. Two well known department stores anchor this mall and both of them were jam packed. It’s months before Christmas so I suspect these fashionistas were shopping for themselves. It’s the perfect time of year to replenish and add to your wardrobe. Hot summer months give many of us the chance to organize our closets with a fine tooth comb. We realize what we love, what we need to give away, and what we need to buy. There are days so hot I can’t go outside so I spend hours going through my closet and arranging fall and winter outfits. I line up all of my handbags and shoes as well. Sometimes I even snap polaroids of new outfit combinations so I don’t forget them when the new season comes around. After taking notes and knowing what you need, it’s important to remember that the best shoppers are smart shoppers. Smart shoppers know exactly what they need before entering a boutique or department store. They don’t wonder around with a glazed look or browse random clothing racks. Smart shoppers have read magazines and many of them even tear our pictures of products and save them in a file. These pictures help them during shopping trips. And if they cannot find the exact product, sometimes they discover something very similar. Last year I fell in love with the prettiest tuxedo blouse I’d saved from VOGUE. I couldn’t find it at Harrods, but I did find one very similar it was simply made by a different brand. But because I’d cut out the picture and filed it away for later use, the shopping trip was much easier and less time consuming.
Smart shopping extends to many facets of life. Whether you are shopping for groceries or a new car, it's good to be armed with as much information as possible before making your purchases. That is part of the beauty of the Internet. We can now search and research ingredients, products, and fashion brands. There is a wealth of information at our fingertips. There is no excuse to not know what you want or why you want it. If you can't take the time to research your purchases then you are not a smart shopper. Smart shoppers know exactly what they need before they even step foot in a boutique or department store. Many have learned to shop this way because they are reformed bad shoppers. Meaning over the years they accumulated so many products they never needed or even use. Clutter easily builds up in our lives and if we aren't careful it turns into one big mess. Who wants a messy wardrobe? Once there are too many clothes, shoes, and handbags in a closet, it is actually much more difficult to choose what you want to wear and what exactly you own.
I recently set out to find the best new designer handbags. In fact, I already knew what I wanted because I'd cut pictures from a magazine of bags I loved. I carefully stored these pictures in a folder and I also made a folder on my laptop for digital images. The handbags I loved and coveted over a period of months were a satchel design. The ones I truly loved were made by PLIA Designs. Because I like to consider myself a smart shopper, I began researching PLIA Designs. PLIA makes a line of designer handbags at a very valuable price. I find it odd that many shoppers now think a designer handbag has to be more than a thousand US dollars. In my opinion, that is absolutely ridiculous. PLIA Designs handbags are priced in the mid-600's which is a very refreshing price point. I spent hours on their website pouring over all of their collections of handbags and leather goods. I loved their satchel handbags so much. I just knew it would be the sort of bag I'd carry all of the time and it would hold up well.
The first weekend of November, with all my pictures in hand, I decided to pay Nordstrom a visit. Usually I love exploring their beauty department, but I decided to save that for last. The accessories floor was buzzing, but I immediately found the PLIA Designs assortment of designer handbags. There in front of me were the satchel bags I'd drooled over for months. I couldn't wait to buy it. I was so excited to finally find my dream handbags, that I bought two PLIA Designs bags.
